Recruitment Procedure, Complaints Process, and MLC 2006

Recruitment Procedure

 

  1. Job Postings: We advertise vacancies online. All candidates are invited to apply, and all applications are considered equally, regardless of vessel or shipowner preference.
  2. Selection: Candidates are chosen based on relevant experience and the specific requirements of the role.
  3. Verification: Candidate experience and references are thoroughly checked.
  4. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are interviewed in English.
  5. Document Check: We verify maritime qualifications, training certificates, medicals, seaman’s book, and passport. All documents must comply with STCW and flag state requirements.
  6. Shipowner Approval: Selected candidates are presented to the shipowner for final approval.
  7. Employment: Upon acceptance, the employment contract is signed, and full information on embarkation and travel is provided.

Complaints Procedure

 

Every seafarer has the right to submit a complaint or grievance regarding Arriva Shipping Polska or a shipowner.

  • Complaints can be submitted:
    • In writing at our Gdańsk office logbook
    • By mail to: Arriva Shipping Polska, ul. Piwna 1/2, 80-831 Gdańsk
    • By email to: office@arrivashipping.eu
  • We confirm receipt of complaints within 5 working days, detailing the date and preferred method of communication.
  • The investigation will be completed within 15 working days for Arriva Shipping Polska issues, or within 30 working days for shipowner-related issues. If an outcome is not satisfactory, we will advise on further action or alternative procedures.

If a complaint is not resolved, seafarers may contact the Maritime Authority in Gdynia for additional support.

MLC 2006 Statement

 

Arriva Shipping Polska operates in full compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006):

  • We do not charge seafarers direct or indirect recruitment fees.
  • No one under 18 is employed.
  • We uphold equal treatment without discrimination on the basis of race, gender, religion, or background.
  • All personal data is handled with strict confidentiality.
  • We only work with shipowners who also comply with MLC 2006.
  • All seafarers are informed of their rights and obligations and receive comprehensive employment information and contracts before embarking.
